02 Her story

Meet Cindy

What stands out

  • 168 cm, slim build
  • Long wavy blonde hair, blue eyes
  • Yoga, photography and sailing
  • Cheerful and easygoing
  • Lives in De Pijp

"Give me ten minutes of sun on the Sarphatipark grass and I'm good for the whole day." That is Cindy in one sentence: cheerful, sporty and impossible to rattle. She is 26, she lives in De Pijp, and she wears her neighbourhood's easy, market-morning energy like a favourite jacket.

De Pijp is Amsterdam at its most sociable. The Albert Cuyp stalls open early, the terraces fill fast, and nobody stands on ceremony. Cindy fits right in. Most days start with yoga, out in the park whenever the Dutch weather allows, and she carries that calm into everything else. An evening with her never feels scripted. She laughs easily, asks good questions and happily lets the plan change if something better turns up. Ask her for directions and you get a route, a café recommendation and the best bench in the park.

Look at her and you see a slim 168 cm, long wavy blonde hair and bright blue eyes that crinkle when she smiles. Her style is sunny poolside charm, relaxed and bright, dressed up just enough for a good restaurant on the Gerard Douplein. Photography is her quiet passion; she notices light on canal water the way other people notice the time. She is a real sailor too, happiest out on the IJ with a breeze in her face and a line in her hands, watching the city shrink behind the boat. On the water, she says, you finally see how Amsterdam was built: facing the harbour, and proud of it. If boats are your thing as well, Michelle is another sailor on the roster.

Cindy speaks English and suits guests who want warmth without any fuss. An afternoon drink that turns into dinner, a sunset walk along the Amstel, a relaxed evening back at your hotel: say the word and she makes it easy. She is a De Pijp girl through and through, and she will not hear a word against its terraces.

03 An evening plan

Out with Cindy

Golden hour on the water is non-negotiable for Cindy. She would hire a small open boat on the Amstel side of De Pijp, take the tiller if the skipper allows it, and steer you under the bridges while she frames the houseboats through her camera. On deck she is cheerful, sporty without turning anything into a competition, and happy to hand you the lens so you can try a shot of your own.

Back on dry land, dinner happens somewhere in the side streets off the Albert Cuypmarkt, a busy room with open windows and plates meant for sharing. She orders fast and laughs easily. The night finishes with a slow walk along the Amstel embankment, where she scrolls to her favourite photo of the evening and insists you choose a favourite too, even if it is the blurry one.

04 In her words

Cindy answers

01Sunrise yoga or a sunset sail?

Sunset sail, and the yoga can wait until tomorrow. Amsterdam seen from the water at dusk beats any studio I know.

02What do you photograph most in the city?

Reflections. Canal water turns every house upside down, and the picture changes with every passing boat.

03What helps you relax with someone new?

A sense of humour. If you can laugh when the boat bumps the quay, we are going to get along just fine, and the skipper will forgive us both.

05 Book her
