The airport sits on the bed of a lake that was pumped dry in the nineteenth century, a few metres below sea level, and it has grown into one of the busiest hubs in Europe. Airport accommodation falls into a few groups. A handful of hotels are only minutes on foot from Schiphol Plaza. Others sit in business parks such as Schiphol-Rijk, or in nearby Badhoevedorp and Hoofddorp, usually linked to the terminal by shuttle bus. Tell us the name of your hotel and we will work out the best approach and the right entrance.

Travel time and extra notice
Our companions live in the city, so a Schiphol booking always includes a journey. The train from Amsterdam Centraal to Schiphol Airport takes around fifteen minutes, and from Amsterdam Zuid it is quicker still. By taxi it is roughly half an hour, longer at rush hour on the A4 and A10. Add the walk or shuttle to your hotel and it becomes clear why we ask for a little more notice than for a canal-ring address. Night trains keep running after the regular timetable ends, but in the small hours a taxi is usually faster. Message us as soon as you know your plans, and we will give you a confirmed arrival time.

Layovers, late landings, early flights
Airport evenings follow the flight schedule. A long layover might leave you three or four free hours; a late landing might mean you only want company for one. If you fly out early, say so, and we will plan a booking that ends in good time. One practical rule: you need to be at a hotel room, because companions do not meet clients inside the terminal or in airport lounges.
